Anton Agarkov is a traveler and travel photographer with more than ten years’ experience. He is the ambassador of Tamron in Russia and the pro-rider of Marmot in Russia. Anton actively cooperates with such famous companies like Nikon, FujiFilm, and The North Face. Anton arranges and conducts photo travels in Northern Ossetia, Baikal, Buryatia, Kirgizia, and Kamchatka.
The main direction of his photo shooting is landscape and travel photography. “I think to perform a quality travel report you should be able to curiously capture everything that comes to the photographer’s focus: nature, everyday life, architecture, urban scenery and food. That is how you can pass the spirit and mood of the place and help the viewer himself visit the place”.
Anton spends more than 200 days a year traveling, carrying out expeditions and photo tours. The geography of his voyages covers almost the entire Russia and Central Asia. While he traveled, Anton shot the nomads of Kirgizia, passed the winter in a nomads’ tent and photographed the life of a remote Mongolian Kazakh village right at the border between Mongolia and China, waited for the storm at Baikal Lake and met the Buryatia shamans. Up to 2013, Anton was the leading photographer of the project Strana.ru at The All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. Within the framework of this project, Anton traveled around the majority of Russian regions in search of interesting stories. In 2014, he independently developed and launched a large scale media project of a series of expeditions aimed at studying Central Asia “Heritors of the steppe”. At the first stage of his expedition, Anton devoted three months to traveling and studying the life of the Kalmyk people, the people living in the sands of Astrakhan, Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan and Kirgizia. In 2015, as the second season of his project started, Anton was shooting in the Altai, Buryatia and Mongolia.
Anton teaches his personal course on travel photography at the school of travel journalism Travelogia.net. He regularly conducts lectures at different platforms, including the Russian Geographic Society. Agarkov is the finalist and the award winner of such competitions like Wild Nature of Russia, Best of Russia, and ADME Photo Awards.
